Kingstree native Morgan Hunt Alsbrook, 71, passed away on November 30,2023, at her residence in Inver Grove, Minnesota. Born September 1,1952, Morgan was pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph Brockington Alsbrook, Jr. and Elizabeth Morgan Hunt Alsbrook. She is survived by longtime partner Holly Koski and son Jordan Hull of Hibbing MN, and by 3 siblings, Mary Vaughan Alsbrook and her son Joseph Morgan Hunt Alsbrook (Erin) of Charleston, Brooks Alsbrook of Dania Beach, FL, and Joseph Brockington Alsbrook, III (Vicky) of Charleston, and their daughters Lexa Skope (Jonathan), Sarah Horst (Matthew), and Chandler Brockington Alsbrook. Next generation survivors include great-nephews Greyson and Gavin Cole, Jack, Knox and Rhett Horst, and one great-niece, Piper Skope.

Morgan was an accomplished industrial draftsman for a Charleston military defense contractor.  She particularly enjoyed working in naval electronics, which led to exciting travel adventures to seaports on the east and west coast as well as Panama. After taking early retirement due to disability, Morgan lived in Boston and later, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Morgan treasured memories of happy times growing up in Kingstree, the house on Live Oak Avenue and her daddy’s hardware store.  She valued people over things, and the friendships she made sustained her throughout her lifetime. From childhood friends in Kingstree and the class of 1970 to her buddies at Limestone College to friends and coworkers in  Charleston and finally friends, family and caregivers in Minnesota, Morgan was admired and respected for her wit, her daring, her grace and her courage. She held her own against Multiple Sclerosis for over thirty-five years, and her strength and spirit are inspirational to those who knew her.

A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Frank P. Seignious, III at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Williamsburg Cemetery in Kingstree,SC.

    Dearest Vaughn,
I was so very sorry to hear about Morgan. I was prepared to write my own memories of her and try to uplift your spirit,
in this difficult time. Then, I read her obituary, particularly the third paragraph and it made me smile. Wit, Grace, Daring
and Courage aren’t just adjectives describing her, they were what made Morgan.
My best attempt at uplifting your spirit would be to remind you to re-read that paragraph.
    Your Old Classmate,
    Louis

Morgan was my first mentor and big sister in my life and career. She gave me encouragement and brought out the best in me in our work together. We shared a love for music and art, often having discussions over songs, bands and whether some forms of art were really “therapy” rather than true art (one of our inside jokes..). I always admired her courage, sense of humor, and grace. She loved her family, friends and would share stories of her growing up in her hometown. Rest easy big sister.

Morgan was always a gentle caring person. Once you were her friend, you remained her friend for life. She was courageous when faced with adversity and kept her sense of humor. Morgan touched many people in her life and will be missed by all. Rest in peace, my friend

I met Morgan in 2008 when she was receiving support to go on appointments and then became friends over the years while she continued to receive support. It was so much more than a client/support person relationship. I considered her more like a mentor, but for life lessons. My role was to assist her with getting things organized; she would direct me on what to put where, instructed me on how to put a picture on a wall for her just so, and we came up with ideas of how to organize her medical paperwork. The fun came though, when we would go through her personal belongings, we would talk about a picture for what seemed like hours, veering off topic in one direction or another. We would often talk about what ifs, and the power of thought, along with many in depth discussions of fate and feelings. I cherish all of those memories, and appreciate our time that we spent together. I am so sad she is not with us, and will miss our discussions, but I am 100% a better person because of everything she taught me, and feel like it was fate that brought us into each others lives. I believe you are in a better place, dear friend, and I will see you again someday. I truly believe that.

    Vaughn,
Although David and I cannot be at Morgan Hunt’s graveside service tomorrow, please know that you, Brooks, Joe and families will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Morgan Hunt had a quick wit and sense of humor that I always found engaging.
Please extend our condolences to Holly and Jordan, too.
I know she will be missed by those of us who knew her.

    David and Libba
