Randolph “Randy” Thompson, Jr.,82, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at Lake City Scranton Healthcare Center in Scranton, SC.
Randy was born October 17, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Randolph Thompson and Emma Drake Thompson. He was a 1961 graduate of Kingstree High School, a graduate of Wingate Junior College and Campbell College. He attended Wake Forest University and was an avid Wake Forest fan. Randy was a devoted and faithful member of Kingstree First Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon. He served on the Counting Committee and the Stewardship Committee and was the secretary of the Adult Sunday School Department for fifty-five years. Randy was a devoted and hardworking member of the Kingstree Jaycees and served as a Jaycee International Senator. In his professional career Randy was President of Campbell Lumber Company.
Randy is survived by his sister, Karen T. (Manuel) Gonzalez of Kingstree and a nephew, Manny Gonzalez and his fiancée, Phoua Lor of Wisconsin.
A memorial service for Randy will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Kingstree First Baptist Church, 400 N. Academy Street, Kingstree, SC 29556. Randy’s family will receive family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM in the church parlor just prior to the service in the sanctuary.
