Funeral Services

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the First Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Mike Hickman.  Graveside services will be at 5:00 pm Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Kingstree Memorial Gardens in Kingstree, SC.

Visitation

 The family will receive friends Friday, April 12, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home and Saturday, April 13, 2019 beginning at 9:00 am until service time at the church.

     The family requests memorials be directed to First Baptist Church, 220 Masonic Street, Dyersburg, TN  38024.

     Shirley Funderburk Carver, 78, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born January 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Jerry and Miga Ann Mitchell Funderburk.  She was a homemaker.  Shirley moved her membership to First Baptist Church on December 15, 1980. She was very faithful member of Joy Life Group Class and worship.

    The family will receive friends Friday, April 12, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home and Saturday, April 13, 2019 beginning at 9:00 am until service time at the church.

    She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jim Carver; one son, James Henry Carver, Jr. (Jacqueline) of Galveston, TX; son-in-law, Sheldon (Sarah) Reynolds of Kingstree, SC; five grandchildren, William Evan (Margaret) Reynolds, James Clayton Reynolds, Sabrina Alyse Carver, Olivia Reynolds, and Jeana Faye Reynolds; one great-grandchild, Ann Mishoe Reynolds; two sisters, Lurlie Jeanette Lee (Charles) of Union City, Barbara Ann Johnson (Gene) of Oakland; two brothers, Olen Funderburk (Linda) of Newbern, Ricky Dale Funderburk (Verna) of Trimble and many nieces and nephews.    

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelly Sabrina Carver Reynolds; one sister, Sarah Nelly Tarkington; and four brothers, Ollis Lee Funderburk, John Louie Funderburk, Owen Ray Funderburk and Revis Funderburk.

     The family requests memorials be directed to First Baptist Church, 220 Masonic Street, Dyersburg, TN  38024.

    We are very sad to learn of the passing of Shirley. It was a privilege to know Shirley. She was a deeply sincere, “real” lady. We offer condolences to Jim, Jimmy, and the rest of her family and her friends.
