A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday October 8, 2025, at Kingstree Presbyterian Church, 229 Sumter Highway, Kingstree, SC 29556.

Tami K. Rodgers, 53, wife of Davis Rodgers, died Monday October 6, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Tami was born February 24, 1972, a daughter of Sherry Miles Kortness and the late Kenneth L. Kortness. She was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School and retired as Publisher of The News in Kingstree after more than 30 years of service. She received numerous awards from the SC Press Association over the years. Tami was an active member of Kingstree Presbyterian Church, and she loved her church family. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the WIC. She loved to cook for her family and friends on holidays, attend school events, work puzzles, and truly enjoyed kayaking and fishing on Black River.
In addition to her husband of 34 years, Dave of Kingstree, survivors are: a son, Joshua Rodgers (Mary Gray Glick) of Florence; a daughter, Abigail Rodgers (Corey Knotts) of Kingstree; her mother, Sherry Kortness of Spokane, WA; two brothers, David Smith of Charlotte, NC and Roger Kortness of Spokane, WA. Tami also had several nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Kortness.
Tami’s family would like to give special thanks to McLeod Oncology, Dr. James Smith and the entire staff for their care and compassion during Tami’s illness.

Dave and family, Tami was always a great friend. My mother was telling me today how good Tami was to her when mom was battling cancer. Please know you are all in my thoughts and Prayers. May God hold you and comfort you in hus loving arms.

So sorry to hear this. I remember Tammi from school and have had the opportunity to speak with her on a few occasions in the past few years. She was always a beautiful young lady. Prayers for her family.
Tammy was a good neighbor to the General Store a good friend and Sales in Advertising. So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear about Tami. She was a great lady and the greatest boss I ever had. She made me feel welcomed at The News and taught me every thing I know about newspapers. She will be greatly missed.
So many wonderful memories with Tami- She was a precious friend. Always so kind, I enjoyed our time working together at THE NEWS. We must say goodbye to a vital part of our community. We will miss you, but Heaven has become a little sweeter and precious.. I am sure your seeing the “Best Story you ever published” when Jesus said Well Done, Thou good and faithful servant.
