Mrs. Jennye Louise Caulder Thomas, 79, wife of John W. Thomas, Sr., passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017, at her residence.
Mrs. Jennye was born January 11, 1938, in Lake City, a daughter of the late James Ernest Caulder and Juanita Williamson Caulder. She was a graduate of Hebron High School. Mrs. Jennye taught kindergarten several places over a 30 year span. She was the embodiment of a loving, Christian lady. Her sweet spirit nurtured not only her family, but many lives in her church and community, especially her students. She was a longtime member of Kingstree First Baptist Church, but currently a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband Johnny, of Georgetown, Mrs. Jennye is survived by her daughters, Linda Sue (BoBo) Moore, of Salters; Jennye Carolyn Jeronimo, of Kingstree; and Angela Rene (Keith) Griffis, of Atlanta, Georgia; A loving “Nanny” to her seven grandchildren; Aimee (Dan) Tetrault, of Mt. Pleasant; Suzanne (Ryan) Holladay, of Cades; Doug (Patricia) Michau, of France; Theresa Mullis, of Goose Creek; Nicole (Jason) Hawkins, of Atlanta, Georgia; Kimilee Moore, of Kingstree; Alex Hofkin, of Atlanta, Georgia; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Harriette (Crafton) Cannon of Turbeville; many loved nieces and a special nephew; a stepson, Wesley Thomas, of Georgetown; a step daughter, Angie Hewitt, of Georgetown; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Mrs. Jennye was preceded in death by one brother, James Caulder; one sister Molly Dale Caulder; and her first husband Douglas Eaddy.

Mrs. Anna Runette Moore McCutchen, 76, wife of Colin D. McCutchen, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, in McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Mrs. McCutchen was born January 16, 1941, in Hemingway, SC, a daughter of the late Mattie Lee Grier Moore and Stacy Dwight Moore. She was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and was the secretary at McCutchen Motors. Runette was an active member of The Coastal Doll Collectors Club and The Red Hat Society of Hemingway. She loved collecting dolls, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. McCutchen, in addition to her husband of 48 years, Colin McCutchen, are: sisters, Jackie M. Harrelson and Mary D. Cribb, both of Hemingway; many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly; and a dear friend, Lee Washington. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Billy Moore, Pat Tyler and Alan Tyler.

Mrs. Sara Beth Thompson O’Quinn, 80, wife of Charles Neill O’Quinn, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
Mrs. O’Quinn was born June 4, 1937, in the Wampee Section of Horry County, a daughter of the late Hezikiah Elmore Thompson and Dora Elnita Skipper Thompson. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and the University of South Carolina. Mrs. O’Quinn taught at Summerville High School and Williamsburg Technical College. She was a member of professional and alumni associations. Mrs. O’Quinn was an active member of Union Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband Charles, Mrs. O’Quinn is survived by her sons, Neill (Laura) O’Quinn; Alex O’Quinn; and Patrick (Dottie) O’Quinn; a brother, Thomas A. Thompson, of Fair Bluff, NC; and 7 grandchildren, Patrick O’Quinn, Jr.; Peyton O’Quinn; Mac O’Quinn; Reese O’Quinn; Eric O’Quinn; Kelly Grubbs and Carrie O’Quinn. Mrs. O’Quinn was preceded in death by 3 brothers, LaVerne Thompson, LaRoy Thompson, and Hezikiah Erwin Thompson.

Henry Edward Burrows, 87, husband of the late Eugenia Cribb Burrows, died Sunday, November 12, 2017, in Carolinas Hospital after an illness.
Mr. Burrows was born June 20, 1930, in Kingstree, a son of the late James Marion Burrows and Hettie Morris Burrows. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. Mr. Burrows, along with his late wife, were the retired owners and operators of several dress shops and grocery stores. He loved fishing, enjoyed his beach house and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Williamsburg Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his children, Henry E. “Hank” Burrows, Jr. and his wife Kent of Kingstree, Nicki Burrows Lockhart of Kingstree, Emily Burrows Becker and her husband David of Sumter, and Eugenia “Teena” Burrows of Surfside Beach; 8 grandchildren, Starr (Patrick) Carr, Sheila (Patrick) Snead, Jennifer (Jason) Herndon, Casey (Jason) Newman, Geena (Michael) Woodard, Toni (Shane) Stillinger, Cody (Audra) Burrows, Jordan Burrows and Martha McClary; 13 great grandchildren; a brother James Marion (Irene) Burrows, Jr. of Columbia; 3 sisters, Edna Burrows Tisdale, of Kingstree, Christine Burrows (Jerry) Alderson, of Columbia, and Frances Burrows Roberts, of Georgetown. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Burrows was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Crystal Keels, son-in-law Wayne Lockhart, and a sister Leoda Burrows Baylor.

Mrs. Jean Woodham McCabe, 86, widow of Dr. Thomas G. McCabe, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017, in Kingstree Nursing Facility.
Mrs. McCabe was born March 14, 1931, in Chipley, FL, a daughter of the late James Roy Woodham and Bonnie Kirkland Woodham. She was the Director of Council on Aging in Williamsburg County and the Jean McCabe Manor was named in her honor.
Surviving Mrs. McCabe are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Dr. McCabe, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Frances Epps Hart, 61, wife of Edgar Charles Hart, died Friday, October 27, 2017, at her residence in Ringgold, GA.
Frances was born December 6, 1955, in Fort Jackson, SC, a daughter of the late Ferdinand Quinton Epps and Margaret Wilson Epps. She was a graduate of Williamsburg Academy and received a BA in Guidance and Counseling from Columbia College. Frances was a social worker at the Babcock Center and an Evaluator for South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, TN.
Surviving are: her husband, Edgar Hart, of Ringgold, GA; her daughter, Kaitlin Fine; her granddaughter, Ansley Fine, both of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; her brothers, Quinton Epps and his wife Jeannie, of Lexington, SC and Shawn Epps and his wife Cathe, of Lugoff, SC; and her sister, Mary Eidson and her husband Jeff, of Boise, Idaho.

Mrs. Donna Wilkes Matthews, 33, wife of George Clarion “Clay” Matthews, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Roper Hospital.
Donna was born February 6, 1984, in Sumter, SC, a daughter of Nancy Thornhill Wilkes and the late Donald Reese Wilkes. She was a 2002 graduate of Kings Academy and received a certificate in Early Childhood Development from Williamsburg Technical College. Donna worked at Kingstree United Methodist Church with their Preschool and Daycare. She attended Kingstree Church of God.
Surviving are: her mother, Nancy; her husband, Clay Matthews; her son, Noah Matthews; her brothers, David Wilkes, Tony Wilkes, Terry Wilkes and Allen Wilkes; her sisters, Linda Hanniford and Vicki Haselden. In addition to her father, Donna was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Wilkes.

Mr. Charles Frederick “Fred” Belue, 58, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017, in Kingstree.
Mr. Belue was born May 2, 1959, in Kingstree, a son of Charles Wilson Belue and the late Betty Hanna Belue. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and was a welder. Fred enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter and Carolina fan.
Surviving Fred are: his father, Charles W. Belue; his children, Faith (Sherod) Timmons, Hope (Mike) Kirby, Hunter Belue, Rebecka Allison Belue, and Whitney (Dennis) Martin; his brother, Chris (Ren) Belue; his sisters, JoAnn (Ricky) Turner and Darlene (Bo) Graham; his grandchildren, Carley Belue, Robert Belue, Charlie Kirby, Sadie Timmons, Clay Ryan Martin, Jasen David Martin, Ellie Bristol Martin and River James Martin; and a special friend, Carolyn Jeronimo. Mr. Charles Edward “Pete” McCutchen, 76, widower of Lois Tisdale McCutchen, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017, in McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Mr. McCutchen was born March 31, 1941, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Louis McCutcheon and Willow Dean Thornhill McCutcheon. He was retired from A & P Food Stores and was a farmer. Pete was a member of Greeleyville Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman.
Surviving Mr. McCutchen are: his daughter, Mandy McCutchen, of Kingstree; his son, Charles Edward (Chris) McCutchen, Jr., of Manning; brother, Jamie (Betty) McCutcheon, of Coward; sister, Jean Colvard, of Conway; 2 grandsons, Charles Kevin (Destany) McCutchen of Greeleyville and Justin Edward McCutchen, of Kingstree; 1 granddaughter, Brittany Lois (Trey) Purvis, of Andrews; 4 great grandsons, Patrick and Carson McCutchen and Grayson and Wayland Benton; and 1 great granddaughter, Kalli McCutchen. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. McCutchen was preceded in death by brothers, Bobby “Slick” McCutcheon and Larry “Sonny Boy” McCutcheon, and a sister, Barbara Jean Brown.

Susan Castles Kennedy, 73, of Kingstree, SC, widow of George Curtis Kennedy, Jr., passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at The Methodist Manor, Florence, SC, where she had been residing for the past four years.
Ms. Kennedy was born May 15, 1944, in Columbia, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joe Blair and Norma Darby Castles. She was a graduate of Eau Claire High School in Columbia, SC, and received a B.A. from Winthrop College and a M.E.D from Francis Marion University. For twenty-five years Mrs. Kennedy was a teacher in Williamsburg County, where she taught at Williamsburg Academy and eventually retired after teaching at Kingstree Junior High School for many years. Before her health declined, Mrs. Kennedy was an active member with the Kingstree Garden Club. Susan was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Kennedy are: her daughter, Laura Barrow Kennedy, of New Zion, SC; a brother, Joe Blair Castles, Jr. (Patricia); a sister, Blaire Castles Smoak (Gilbert); and a sister-in-law, Judy Kennedy King (James), and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved lab, Jesse. Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and most recently, her younger daughter, Kathryn Blair Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2017, in Kingstree United Methodist Church, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., before the funeral, in the Kingstree United Methodist Church Ladies Parlor.

Henry Curtis Haddock, a Kingstree native who turned a love of flying into a lifelong career, died on October 4, 2017. He was 66.
Mr. Haddock graduated from Kingstree High School before earning a degree in Aircraft Technology from Florence-Darlington Technical College. As an aircraft mechanic at the Florence airport, Mr. Haddock yearned to get off the ground. At 17, he learned to fly. He earned local notoriety when he built a 1949 Piper Clipper from a “pile of parts” he had purchased.
Alec Taylor of Taylor Helicopters saw potential in the young Mr. Haddock. He offered him his first flying gig, crop dusting with a Cessna “Ag Wagon” in Latta, SC. Several years later Mr. Haddock started his own company, Haddock Flying Service, Inc. The company used Hiller helicopters to spray timber and crops throughout the Southeast.
Mr. Haddock often piloted family and friends to his favorite vacation destination in Eleuthera, Bahamas. They enjoyed SCUBA diving, deep sea fishing, and cooking fresh catch. Over the course of his life, Mr. Haddock flew more than 30,000 hours. On October 4, he flew for the last time.
The youngest son of the late Dargan Carroll Haddock and the late Thelma Brown Haddock, Henry Haddock was a resident of Salters, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Stephanie Lynn Haddock; son, Dargan Dewey “Dee” Haddock (Erica), of Pawleys Island; son, Ashley Clayton Haddock (Erin) of Pawleys Island; grandchildren, Henry James Haddock, Mary Clayton Haddock, Clayton Cartwright “Wright” Haddock, and Elizabeth Dargan Haddock; brother, Richard Brown Haddock (Bonita); brother, William Carroll Haddock (Peggy); and many more nieces and nephews.

Kathryn Blair Kennedy, 42, of Kingstree, SC, passed away, Saturday, October 7, 2017, at her home.
Ms. Kennedy was born February 19, 1975, in Sumter, SC, a daughter of Susan Castles Kennedy and the late George Curtis Kennedy, Jr. She was a 1993 graduate of Williamsburg Academy and attended Converse College, where she was a member of the 1997 class. Kathryn was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. She loved watching the Clemson Tigers play football and would never miss a chance to meet the coaches or players. Kathryn never met a stranger and loved an adventure. She was a great story teller and entertained others with stories of her friends and family.
Surviving in addition to her mother are: her sister, Laura Barrow Kennedy, of New Zion, SC; many aunts, uncles, and cousins who were special to her; and many friends from all over who will miss her dearly. Kathryn also leaves behind her two beloved Labrador Retrievers, Gravy and Lilli. Her dogs were her loyal companions and her pride and joy. Mrs. Polly McGill Connor, 95, widow of Wallace D. Connor, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, in Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Mrs. Connor was born November 2, 1921, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late John Yancey McGill and Pauline Watson McGill. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Winthrop College. Mrs. Connor worked with Clemson Extension Service in Kingstree for many years, including their 4-H Clubs, where she instructed club members on leadership, citizenship and life skills. She was a leading force in the organization of Girl Scouts in Kingstree, inspiring countless young girls with her enthusiasm and love for others.
Surviving Mrs. Connor are: her daughters, Lou Connor (Jeanne Nicolosi) and Paula (Bill) Sellars; 3 grandchildren, Timothy Connor Murphy (Meredith Moon), Connor Freeman, and Dan Freeman; and her sister, Helen Adams. In addition to her parents and her husband Wallace, Mrs. Connor was preceded in death by a daughter, Judge Carol Connor and 3 brothers, Frank McGill, J.Y. McGill, and Theodore McGill.

Mrs. Flossie Elizabeth “Libby” Price Gause, 75, widow of Claude Gause, passed away Saturday September 30, 2017, in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
Mrs. Gause was born February 16, 1942, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Herman Price and Eloise Duke Price. She was a long time employee of both Baxter Travenol and Walmart, where she made many close friends. She enjoyed working on handcrafts and created many beautiful items for friends and family. Mrs. Gause was a member of Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving Mrs. Gause are her daughter, Kathy Leonard, of Anchorage, AK; 2 sons, Brian (Cindy) Gause, of Kingstree and Bruce (Amy) Gause, of Kingstree; 8 grandchildren, Kimberly Wyatt, William Leonard, Corey Alexie, Valerie Leonard, Justin Gause, Brandy Gause, David Gause, and Stephanie Stafford; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Kinard, of Effingham, and a half brother Joseph Price, of Greeleyville. Mrs. Avisteriah Gibbons “Dotsie” Williamson, 88, widow of Kenneth Raymond Williamson, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017, in Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, SC.
Mrs. Williamson was born April 7, 1929, in Turbeville, SC, a daughter of the late Cardinal Gibbons and Mamie DuBose Gibbons. “Miss Dotsie” was retired from the USDA office in Kingstree and was an avid gardener. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Kingstree, where she remained very active until her health declined.
Surviving Mrs. Williamson are: a sister-in-law, Evelyn Gibbons, of Florence; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Chuck and Linda Hylton, of Kingstree. In addition to her parents and her husband, Miss Dotsie was preceded in death by her brothers, Lonnie Gibbons and Larry Gibbons.

Mrs. McClary was born October 25, 1932, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Joe Tisdale and Ola Mae “Palmas” Tisdale. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and was a dedicated housewife, mother and grandmother. “Miss Mae Delle” was a devoted member of Millwood United Methodist Church and was very active until her health declined.
Surviving Mrs. McClary are: her daughter, Wanda M. Holliday; her son, William J. (Mary) McClary, Jr.; son-in-law, Ronnie Brown; 6 grandchildren, Ashley S. Mr. William Montague “Montie” Nexsen, 62, husband of Diane Wiggins Nexsen, passed away Thursday evening, September 21, 2017, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Nexsen was born August 6, 1955, in Kingstree, a son of Mrs. Mary Wood “Woody” Douglass Nexsen and the late Louis Jacobs “Crane” Nexsen. Montie was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School and MUSC with a BS degree in Allied Health and was the Laboratory Director at Williamsburg Regional Hospital. He was the owner of Sound Solutions and he installed sound systems in homes, churches, and businesses throughout the area along with providing the sound for The Kingstree Trials and Williamsburg Hometown Chamber Banquets each year. Montie was the “Voice of the Stallions” for many years, calling Williamsburg Academy football games at The Corral every fall and also managed Uncle Monty’s Tree farm for over 20 years. He loved music and played guitar in several Classic Rock and Country bands over the years. Montie was a member of Kingstree Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and a choir member.
Surviving Mr. Nexsen, in addition to his mother “Woody” Nexsen, of Kingstree and his wife of 42 years, Diane Nexsen are: his daughter, Christina Nexsen (Bradley) Dyar, of N. Charleston; his son, Logan Nexsen, of N. Charleston; his grandson, William Logan LaRocca, who Montie lovingly called “WillRock” and “WillRock” returned the love by always calling his grandfather, “Big Dude”; his sister, Barbara N. Lansche, of Charlotte; and 2 brothers, Doug (Linda) Nexsen, of Huntersville, NC and Louis (Becky) Nexsen, of Pinopolis.

Idella “Ikey” Hanna Brown, 84, widow of Harris F. Brown, Sr., passed away Friday, August 25, 2017, at her residence.
Ikey was born January 2, 1933, in Kingstree, SC, a daughter of the late William James Hanna and Ruby Stone Hanna. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School. Ikey was the housekeeping supervisor at Williamsburg Regional Hospital and the former owner of The Unicorn-Framing and Gift Shop. She was an avid quilter.
Surviving Ikey are: two daughters, Lissa (Wade) McFaddin, of Tennessee; Stephanie (David) Evans, of Kingstree; two sons, Jeffrey Brown and Russell (Lori) Brown, both of Florida; brother, Buddy (Brenda) Hanna, of Dalzell; sisters, Jimmie Grace Hanna, of St. Simons Island, Georgia and Marilea Dooley, of Vancover, WA; grandchildren; Michael McFaddin, Jeremy McFaddin, Sara McFaddin, Sara Ashley (Ryan) Richardson, Hunter (Alex) Evans and Hanna (Hugh) McCutchen; and great grandchild, Jonah Johnson.
In addition to her parents, Ikey was preceded in death by her husband, Harris; two sons, Fritz Brown and James Brown; a brother, Billy Hanna; and a grandson, Christopher Brown.

Carol was born June 9, 1952, in Kingstree, SC, a daughter of the late Willard McCutchen and Mildred McClary McCutchen. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Florence Darlington Technical College. Carol was a registered nurse and worked at Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health. She was a member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Mr. Jerry Ludwig Ganes, 62, husband of Frances Bell Ganes, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017, in McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ganes was born February 2, 1955, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Jessie James Ganes and Annie Powell Ganes. He was a graduate of Williamsburg County schools and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He was a former Law Enforcement Officer and Corrections Officer and was a Security Guard. Jerry was a former Golden Gloves Boxer and coached and umpired high school and Little League baseball.
Surviving Mr. Ganes, in addition to his wife of 43 years, Frances Ganes, are: daughter, Elloree Ganes (Joe Amman), of Charleston; 2 sons, Jeremy (Tracy) Ganes, of Turbeville, and Gavin (Lisa) Ganes, of Cades; grandchildren, Gabby Ganes, Jake Amman, J.C. Ganes, and Emma Amman; brothers, Willard (Adee) Ganes, of Columbia, Rev. Gusta (Libby) Ganes, of Kingstree, and Jody (Pam) Ganes, of Cades; brother-in-law, Paul Patrick; sister-in-law, Helen Ganes; special family member Jodie Eason Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
